While Mel Gibson keeps busy apologizing and asking people to believe that his anti-Semitic remarks were nothing but the 'ramblings of a drunkard', the Jewish stand-up comedienne Joan Rivers, known for her outspoken attitude towards all celebrities says that such behavior should never be tolerated, let alone in Hollywood.
In an interview with 'Celebrity Week', Joan says she doesn't believe that such nasty remarks could be uttered by a person, unless that person really believed them. According to her, the 'in vino veritas' ('in wine lies the truth') saying is one hundred per cent true, thus proving that Gibson is just trying to hide behind his alcoholism.
'He is an anti-Semitic son of a bitch. He should f**king die!', Rivers said in the interview. She also added that people should boycott the Diane Sawyer interview, on 'Good Morning America', in which the actor and director makes yet another plea at people's understanding.
'I think everyone should not watch the interview with Diane Sawyer. The hypocrisy is what I hate. You know it's all about the ratings and Diane Sawyer has them all when she's married to a Jewish guy, Mike Nichols. It's ridiculous because she'll get great ratings and [Gibson] will be back in business', the comedienne said.
In addition to speaking her mind on the Gibson incident, Joan Rivers also included a couple of jokes in her stand-up act, with direct reference to this summer's incident when Mel was arrested for DIU. Among them, the most popular thus far has been the one in which Rivers says 'His bumper sticker is "My other car is a gas chamber"'.
