After years and years of gestation (and almost two decades after the last adventure), the fourth installment of the 'Indiana Jones' franchise is finally given the green light. A couple of months ago, word got out that George Lucas was the one that kept delaying the project's take-off, by repeatedly firing writers of the script.
The latest speculation about the film (apart from that Harrison Ford will get too old to play the part of the adventurer) went something like this: 'Indiana Jones 4' will never come out because George Lucas and Steven Spielberg can't come to an agreement about the plot, don't have a finalized script and are so eager to make the project perfect that they would eventually not make it at all.'
For those who still had hopes, despite the odds, there is good news: on Monday, Lucas, Spielberg and Ford confirmed the script is finished and that the project will start shooting in June this year, in various undisclosed locations all around the globe, as well as in the US. Apparently, both Lucas and Spielberg came to an understanding that David Koepp ('Spider-Man') was the best man to pen down the adventures of Indiana Jones, which he did... and wonderfully!
On the other hand, they refused to reveal any more details of the plot, limiting themselves only to saying that this fourth movie will be 'packed with action'. And the question inevitably arises: will 64-year-old Harrison Ford be up to the task? Will he keep up with the physical requirements of the part? Sure he will, the legendary actor claims. 'I'm delighted to be back in business with my old friends. I don't know if the pants still fit, but I know the hat will', Ford said.
Needless to say, the entire team is happy to be finally at work on the film and, if we are to believe the hype, we are in for a hot 2008. 'George, Harrison and I are all very excited. We feel that the script was well worth the wait. We hope it delivers everything you'd expect from our history with Indiana Jones.', Steven Spielberg added.
