Fox is set to launch as many new shows to attract a larger audience. Besides the reality programs scheduled to go on air this fall, another major project is underway at the network's studios: a show that will recreate the best-selling 'Terminator' franchise.
'The Sarah Connor Chronicles' will try and rise up to the bar that James Cameron set with the movie. All the three 'T's grossed over one billion internationally, but that's definitely not the aim that Fox is going for. The studios gave the pilot episode a greenlight and director David Nutter has been assigned to work on it.
His credentials also include the pilots for hit shows like 'Smallville', 'Supernatural' and 'Without A Trace'. He will work on a script written by none other than Josh Friedman, the man behind the blockbuster 'War of the Worlds'.
Although the television series may prove to be a bit disappointing to 'Terminator' fans, Nutter said that he would do his best to preserve, quote, the 'integrity of what Cameron created'. But it's yet unsure whether the show will follow the same plot line as the three feature films, especially considering that none of the stars that starred in them will appear in it.

'Chronicles' focuses on the life of Sarah Connor (originally played by Linda Hamilton), from the moment she and her son go underground (at the end of 'Terminator 2', to be more precise) and start preparing for the coming war with the machines. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger will not star in the series, for which casting will begin in the following days.
Shooting for the 'Chronicles' starts at the beginning of 2007, in Mexico. If the pilot gets picked up for the series, the show will be produced by Warner Bros with C2 Pictures and it will air on Fox.
