What began as a mixtape meant to boost relatively unknown artists, has finally turned into a full-fledged album that will be released under Slim Shady's name and record company, on December 5th. The rapper said that there has been so much speculation lately and that the tracks put down were so good, that he just had to release an album with them.
'What happened is that the material was so good and the tracks were getting produced like a regular album. Instead of putting it out there rough and unfinished, I thought we should add some other new tracks, make it a real album and put it in the record stores to give these new artists a real boost', Eminem told MTV News.
The tracks that made the final cut on 'Eminem Presents: The Re-Up' include collaborations with Mobb Deep, Snoop Dogg, Nas, Lloyd Banks, Obbie Trice, Akon and his own D12. The set also features brand new artists, whose career is supported by Slim, among which Stat Quo, Ca$his and Bobby Creekwater are only a few.
The motivation that lies behind the decision of putting out a brand new album when none was planned is simple, according to the megastar: 'So much wrong information has gotten out. It's time to set the record straight', he said, referring to the speculations in the press and on the Internet that abounded in the past couple of months.
