Despite what critics and fans have said, the popular ABC series is moving on through the second season and into the third. Four cast members attended the launching party, held on the set of Wisteria Lane, defended their show in front of the press and let slip a few details from the third season.

Eva Longoria, Felicity Huffman, Nicolette Sheridan and Brenda Strong all came to show their support for the second season of 'Desperate Housewives', the one that proved to be such a disappointment to fans worldwide but, more upsetting, to the critics in charge of the Emmy nominations.

'Desperate Housewives: The Complete Second Season: Extra Juicy Edition' includes the episodes already aired on TV and many outtakes, never before seen footage behind the scenes and a story line that was taken out at editing.

Both Longoria and Huffman said that, despite the harsh criticism, they both feel as if that was the best work they have done in their lives. They consider that the show didn't go downhill but towards a new direction, one that the public failed to completely understand or digest. 'I loved the second season. I thought it was wonderful. I had a wonderful year. I thought it was great', Eva said after the ceremony.

Three episodes of the third season are already finished and Longoria hinted at what people are to expect from it: 'Within the first two or three episodes, the baby thing is solved, resolved, something. Marc Cherry kind of really tied up the story line really fast. Not for any reason, but it's time, and now we can really focus on Carlos and Gabrielle starting their "War of Roses"'.

Other than that, it still remains to be seen whether the producers of the show will be able to keep their promise of offering the public a better season than the second one. Even they admitted indirectly that the show had taken an undesirable soap-opera-like direction...
