There was a full house last night at the festivities that celebrate black artists, actors, athletes and other performances. The incendiary show was hosted by comedian Damon Wayans who, by the way, improvised most of his lines, and on its stage the most respected and popular names performed or delivered their acceptance speeches.

The evening's winners were Jamie Foxx (best collaboration and video honor for 'Gold Digger'), Mary J. Blige (best female R&B artist), T.I. (best male hip hop), Prince (best male R&B artist), Missy Elliot (best female hip hop), Kirk Franklin (best gospel), LeBron James (best athlete), Chaka Khan (lifetime achievement).

Performances included Beyonce Knowles and Jay Z, Mary J. Blige and Stevie Wonder and Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx. The entire ceremony was sparkled with funny moments but, also, interrupted by more serious ones, as was Blige's dedication of one song to Katrina victims.

Nominees and finalists were chosen by a panel of executives from record labels, entertainment companies and the media. The fans got to vote online only for Viewers' Choice Award.
