As a player you take on the role of military and political leaders trying to lead your factions to military, political or economic victory during five historic years that divided a nation.
The key to success is to organize your military forces, while managing supply and morale as you plan actions over land, sea and by rail. Challenging scenarios are to be found at every step of the way, "campaigns and grand campaigns, all played out on
the largest American Civil War map ever created for a game," according to the game's fact sheet.
