The 'Hollywood Reporter' just informed that Peter MacNicol will join the Fox popular series '24', scheduled to start its sixth year at midseason. The acclaimed TV series is rumored to start shooting next in New York.

The funky John Cage from the funky 'Ally' (also produced by Fox), will play the part of a high-ranked government official and will become almost a fixture on the set.

The actor will simultaneously work on the CBS Paramount Network Television drama, produced in close collaboration with Scott Free Productions, 'Numb3rs', in which he has been involved ever since 2005, when it premiered.

The portrayal of the funny little man, obsessed and tormented by tens of trivia, Cage in 'Ally McBeal', between 1997 and 2002, got MacNicol three Emmy nominations for 'Best Supporting Actor'. He finally got to go home with the cherished prize in 2001, when he was again nominated for the same category.
