The long awaited Sean Penn movie is finally to have its premiere during the Toronto Film Festival that will run between 7-16 September. Initially, it was said to be released last year, but conflicting schedules changes led to the changing of the premiere until an unspecified date.
'All King's Men' features big names such as Sean Penn, Jude Law, Kate Winslet, Anthony Hopkins, James Gandolfini and Mark Ruffalo. It is a remake of the 1949 Oscar winning best picture, based on the Pullitzer awarded novel by Robert Penn Warren. Sean Penn's main character, Willie Stark, is primarily based on the Louisiana governor Huey P. Long, who was charged with bribery and then later assassinated in 1935.
The movie is directed by Steven Zaillian, the man behind 'Schindler's List', and it is supposed to stand a great chance of taking home a few Oscars. In this respect, Sony Pictures have strongly lobbied and promoted the world premiere that is to take place at Toronto.
