The bass player for the band Aerosmith will not be able to join his fellow rockers at the beginning of the 'Route of All Evil' tour, because he is presently recovering from radiation therapy on throat cancer. The band's publicist announced yesterday that Tom will be resting at home, with his family, after seven weeks of intensive treatment.
Hamilton, who co-wrote the music for hits like 'Sweet Emotion' and 'Janie's Got a Gun', will be replaced by David Hull, who played with Joe Perry in the Joe Perry Project in the 1970s.
The bassist will resume his place in Aerosmith, in the band's tour with Montley Crue, later this year.
The bassist is not the only member of the band to be faced with medical problems. Earlier in 2006, the frontman Steve Tyler successfully underwent surgery to fix a broken vessel on his right vocal cord. But, while on that occasion, the band had to cancel approximately 20 gigs, this time Aerosmith decided to go for a while without their bassist.
According to the official Aerosmith website, the 'Route of All Evil' kicks off on September 5th in Columbus, Ohio.
