Morgan Creek is set to bring real comedy back to the big screen again, but can comedy still be called that without the man who made it a best-selling business? This might actually be the question in the minds of all those who have seen the first two comedy hits.
Jim Carrey was the first to give life to the eccentric pet detective, famous for his floral shirts and surreal hair-do, back in 1994, with 'Ace Ventura: Pet Detective'. The sequel to the comedy, 'Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls' was released a year later and both cashed in more than $180 million domestically, practically making Carrey one of the highest paid comedians in Hollywood.
But now, the bosses from Morgan Creek are considering a sequel to the sequel, with the only difference that Jim Carrey won't be starring in it. Many already say that that would be like watching the Pink Panther without the Pink Panther.
But representatives from the movie studios assure us that the third part of the comedy will focus on the adventures of Ventura's son, who takes over the family business and tries to fill in his father's shoes. He is said to be of the same out-of-this world nature, just like Ace was. But will that make him better?
The film company has hired some of the highest ranked writers to work on the third part of the Ventura franchise and the names of Jeff Sank, Jason and Justin Heimberg have already been officially announced. No suggestions for the actor who is to take Carrey's role have yet been made.
