Almost twelve years have passed by since Jim Carrey and Cameron Diaz joined forces on the big screen to give life to one of the funniest pairs of lovers in history, in 'The Mask'. Now, the two stars will act together again for the delight of the public.
'A Little Game Without Consequence', a Focus Features production, is based on a French romantic comedy revolving around a happily married couple who, just for the fun of it, are set to play a trick on their friends.
But the pranksters become the 'prank-ees' in the moment they tell their common acquaintances that they decided to go on separate ways after more than five years of married life. Because it's only then that they discover that most of the members of their entourage (including their families) believed that they weren't meant to be together from the very start.
The original 'Un petit jeu sans consequence', dating from 2004, was based on a play written by Jean Dell and Gerald Sibleyras. The American remake will mostly stick to the initial screenplay and it will be directed by Gabriele Muccino (who also shot 'The Pursuit of Happiness', starring Will Smith).
Production for 'A Little Game Without Consequence' will start next month in New York. An approximate release date has been set for 2008 and details as to the rest of the cast are somewhat scanty up to this moment.
